Biography

I have been an avid photographer since the age of six, when my father gave me my first camera and introduced me to the wonders of the darkroom. This hobby developed throughout my school and university career and began to emerge as a business when I spent my summer holidays photographing the children at the nursery school my mother ran. I produced hand-printed black & white photographs to sell to the parents and they proved to be a popular alternative to traditional nursery photography.

After graduating from university, I returned to my first love and set up my own company, specialising in taking black & white portraits of children.

That was in 2003. Five years later, my business has grown from strength to strength and I now rank among the top children's photographers in the country, singled out in the Independent Newspaper for my natural style. I spend my time travelling around the UK photographing a wonderful variety of children and families, many of whom I am lucky enough to see year after year.

In addition to taking photographs, I am in demand as an educator and 2009 will see me teaching a masterclass at the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers convention in London. I will also be touring the UK teaching a number of one day seminars on children's portraiture sponsored by Calumet, an international chain of photographic stores.

I am a qualified Associate of the British Institute of Professional Photography, the Master Photographers Association, the Royal Photographic Society and the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers.

I live in Cambridge with my boyfriend, the wedding photographer Tom Catchesides.
