Children’s portrait photography in Hatfield Forest, near Bishop’s Stortford

There are days when the sun shines in the summer, and there are days when it pours with rain. My photo shoot with Gareth and his family took place on a rainy day, and not just any old rain, but bucketing-down pouring rain.

What do you do if it rains, I am often asked. Well, sometimes we shoot indoors and sometimes we go outside anyway. Often I head for the woods as they provide some shelter and this is what we did at Hatfield Forest near Bishop’s Stortford in Essex, and what fun we had.

The ancient forest was almost deserted and we were able to explore at will, building dens, climbing trees, and playing hide and seek – many of my favourite activities on family photo sessions. The light was perfect and we had such a lovely time, here are a few favourite pictures…
