Family photography in Knightsbridge and Battersea Park, London

23Oct

It was a trip to Knightsbridge and Battersea for today’s children and family photography session with Linda and her family. This was our sixth family photo shoot together and I was really looking forward to it. Linda has the most incredibly well-behaved children ever – they are also so fun and interesting to talk to, always a real joy to be around.

We had amazing weather for our photo shoot, which is always a real plus. Bad weather is never a problem photographically, but there is no denying that a really lovely day puts everyone in a great mood.

We headed out from Linda’s Knightsbridge home to Battersea Park, one of my favourite locations in London for children and family photography as there is so much variety. It’s such an interesting spot with so many different and iconic spots from down by the river and the London Peace Pagoda, to the lovely bandstand, the beautiful paths, the incredible fountains and one of the best play areas in London (although I admit I mourn the passing of the incredible wooden adventure play area; I guess it didn’t come anywhere near modern health and safety standards but it was the best play area I’ve ever experienced).

We had a great time at the park taking children and family portrait photographs – family group shots with everyone together both formally and informally, and shots of the children playing together and individual portraits as they enjoyed themselves – perfect for natural, relaxed children’s photography. It’s always important to me to capture really lovely natural smiles and avoid the ‘cheese’ grins so beloved of school photography everywhere.

I’m so thrilled with these pictures from our wonderful day in Knighstbridge and Battersea Park, perhaps our best set of children and family photographs for Linda’s family yet – do look back at these previous shoots and see if you agree: from 2012, and from 2006 and 2008.
