Newborn baby photography in Kensington, London W8

Posted in Newborn at 09:00 on 28/11/2011

You may remember Ed, Sarah and the beautiful Iona from an earlier blog post this year, when we went out to Kensington Gardens to take some family photographs and some portrait pictures of Iona. We had a wonderful time and created a beautiful album from our day.

So I was thrilled to visit again to welcome Hamish to the family. This time we stayed indoors at Sarah and Ed's beautiful Kensington home for our newborn baby and family portrait shoot, and took lots of pictures of Hamish to record how tiny and cute he was as a newborn baby.

I love photographing tiny newborn babies and capturing all the emotions that surround them; the extraordinary feeling of love and pride and excitement. It was wonderful to see how pleased Iona was with her new baby brother - they are going to have such fun together, and I think my favourite picture of the whole day is Iona working on the welcome message on the family blackboard.

I do hope you enjoy these family and newborn baby photographs from our photo shoot in Kensington in West London, W8.

Kensington and Holland Park children's and family photographer

Posted in Children at 09:00 on 25/11/2011

One of my favourite places in London to take family photographs and children's portraits is Holland Park and Kensington in West London. It is such a beautiful part of the world (and has such a great array of coffee shops, not to mention a fine Waterstones for picking up a paperback on the way home).

I was thrilled to meet Oliver and Katja to take some photographs of their beautiful children and family in their Kensington home. I was also excited to see what a talented photographer Oliver is himself - he had some pictures of brown bears taken in Finland that are the equal of anything I have seen elsewhere. So, after looking through Oliver's pictures, I felt inspired for the morning. I knew we were going to take some wonderful children and family portrait photographs.

We started taking pictures in their beautiful Kensington home - the children sat on the rocking horse is a particular favourite from the day - and then headed out to Holland Park for a run around in the lovely autumn weather.

I am thrilled with the pictures from our family and child photo shoot in West London, W8. I hope you will enjoy them too, especially the last image - my homage to the great W. Eugene Smith.

Children's portrait photography in Holland Park, London

Posted in Children at 09:00 on 23/11/2011

Today's blog post features pictures from a family I've been fortunate to photograph before - seeing my clients again and again is truly one of the best things about being a children's, baby and family photographer. I was thrilled to return to Holland Park, one of my favourite places in London for family photography and to see Miguel and Valerie again. We had such a wonderful time at the park, playing in the playground, running around in the wooded section, playing a mean game of giant chess before heading home for some more pictures in the family's beautiful Holland Park home.

I'm thrilled with the pictures and I hope you will enjoy this selection of baby, child and family portrait photographs from Holland Park in West London, W8, W11, and W14.

Baby photography in Oxford

Posted in Babies at 09:00 on 20/11/2011

When Natasha asked me to visit Oxford recently to photograph her family (as featured in the last blog post), I immediately thought of my dear friend Lucy. I like to start all my photo shoots very early in the morning - 8am being the norm, as children are at their best first thing. I was planning to jump on a scarily early train from London, but then I thought of Lucy who is now living in Oxford - a friend from my school days.

A phone call later and I was thrilled to have a bed for the night, and even more excited as this would give me an opportunity to meet Lucy's new baby daughter Ella, who I hadn't met yet. Ella was an absolute cutie and we had such a fun time playing in the front room and a short walk to the river. I'm so looking forward to seeing Ella grow up, and photographing her on many many more occasions. I love my job, and even on the days I'm not working I seem to find myself children to photograph - it's the best thing in the world, and a much cooler gift than a bottle of wine.

Children's and family photography in Oxford

Posted in Children at 09:00 on 18/11/2011

Being based in London for the majority of my work as a children's photographer, I often find that my clients move out of the city at some point - often in the search for bigger houses and larger gardens that can be hard to find in the city. I first met Natasha and her eldest two boys a couple of years ago, when they were living in the heart of Notting Hill, one of my favourite places to shoot. I was thrilled to hear from Natasha again and I was, of course, delighted to be asked to travel to Oxford to see their new house and meet their youngest son, who is now two.

We had an amazing time, as both sets of grandparents joined us for different parts of the shoots and also Auntie Lou, who was - I have to say - the star of the show. As an Aunt myself, I know what a wonderful relationship that is.

We had a great time taking natural fun portrait of the children, at home and also out and about in Oxford. We even went to see the T-Rex, which was about as exciting as any photo shoot I have ever done before.

It was a wonderful day, and I hope you will enjoy this great set of pictures from our children's and family portrait photography shoot in Oxford
