Headshot photos

All our lives have an increasing online element - from sharing news on Facebook to uploading our CV to LinkedIn, our online presence is an important part of modern life. It's important to have a picture that you are pleased to share - an image that shows you at your very best and represents you as you want to be seen in the online world. Having a headshot portrait used to be the preserve of actors and those in the media; now we photograph an increasing number of people who just want a really great portrait – having a picture you are proud of is a lovely (and very useful) thing to have.

What to expect from your headshot session

All my headshots are taken on location - we'll go for a walk outdoors, finding interesting backgrounds and the best natural light. I use these elements, along with some simple positioning, to ensure that we achieve the most flattering portraits with the minimum of fuss.

I work hard to ensure that your portrait session is a fun and enjoyable experience. We take our time and chat as we work so that I am able to get to know you a little; this helps us to get photographs that reflect who you are and that show you at your very best. There is no pressure to 'smile for the camera' - by chatting and enjoying ourselves, the smiles come naturally and, over the course of the shoot, we will get a variety of different moods to your set of images.

"It was a real pleasure having my headshots taken with Helen. It wasn't like having headshots done at all, it was just a lovely stroll around a park chatting to a friend. She made me feel really comfortable and explained everything she was doing. The resulting photos are beautiful and I now have loads of great shots to choose from."

How to make the most of your shoot

To help achieve a great set of photos, I recommend that you avoid wearing white, or graphic patterns (such as checked shirts), or anything that has a strong contrast to it. Where possible, I suggest that you wear something with sleeves. For women, tops with very low-cut necklines are best avoided.

If required, we can add variety to your images through a change of clothing - perhaps wearing a suit for some more formal images, then changing into a t-shirt or casual shirt.

Extended portfolio shoots

If you would like some full-length shots in addition to head and shoulders shots, I am happy to arrange an extended portfolio shoot. These sessions take a bit longer and cost a little more, but there will be more variety to your images. We will approach the shoot in the same way, retaining a fun and relaxed feel.

Presentation, pricing and products

After your headshot session, I will present you with approximately twenty images; about forty images from an extended portfolio session. You will be provided with a web gallery to review your images, which you can share with your colleagues, agent, friends and family.

Headshot sessions start at £295 which includes the session, a web gallery of images to choose from and three high-resolution digital files for your own use. Sessions take place in Crouch End, North London - I am happy to travel further afield but an extra cost will be incurred. Extended portfolio sessions start at £375. Sessions are available Monday - Friday during daylight hours (I am happy to do evening shoots in the summer months).

Additional digital files can be purchased at £75 each. Alternatively fine art prints of your pictures can be purchased, starting at £55; please contact us for further information. All prices include VAT.
