Baby and family photography in Kensington and Holland Park, London W8

13Sep

I first photographed Caleb when he was just a few days old for his newborn portrait session and so I was absolutely thrilled to visit him at home with his parents in Kensington and Holland Park for some more baby and family pictures now he is eight months old. He’s grown into such a lovely smiley baby and this age is such fun to photograph, we had the most wonderful time.

It was a grey, rainy day when I arrived and so we started indoors – Caleb was finishing his breakfast and seems to absolutely love his high chair, particularly when he has a book and Daddy to keep him entertained. We played on Caleb’s beautiful nursery floor next, capturing some lovely shots of him in his room that I’m sure will be really treasured in the future when Monique and Graham think back to this special time when he was so young. I absolutely love how the family dog Finn came to play too; labradors always seem really chilled out and he was so patient as Caleb climbed all over him.

Chasing the light around Monique’s beautiful Kensington flat, we moved into her bedroom which was such a lovely space for photography and where we had taken most of Caleb’s newborn pictures. Caleb had a lovely time rolling around on the bed and laughing with his Mummy and Daddy. I do love seeing how families grow and how all those little looks develop over time – the little smile for Mummy, the laugh for Daddy and the nuzzling snugglyness as everyone is so cosy as a family unit.

We also captured some shots in Caleb’s very smart little dungarees before it was time for a nap. It’s lovely for babies to have a bit of a sleep during their session; they always wake-up so full of beans and it gives us a chance to take a really interesting variety of images over the course of a session. It also gives the adults a chance for an often much needed coffee and a biscuit, the perks of the job.

Caleb woke up bursting with smiles and we took advantage of them for a few more shots indoors in their Kensington flat before heading outdoors to Holland Park as the rain had stopped. It is lovely to do some pictures indoors and some outdoors where the weather permits as it gives such interest and variety to the shoot.

Holland Park is one of my absolute favourite locations in London for baby and family photographs as there is so much variety in such a small space – we can get lots of lovely shots without walking for miles and miles between locations.

I’m thrilled with the pictures and I hope you will enjoy looking at them. I can’t wait for our next shoot with Caleb and in the meantime I hope you enjoy this selection of baby and family portrait photographs taken on location in Kensington and Holland Park, West London.
