I was so thrilled to visit Jill and her family in leafy Muswell Hill recently to update their family photography. We had first met years ago when I photographed Jill’s sister Susie’s wedding, and then, more recently when we got together for a baby photography session in Muswell Hill with Jill’s husband Paul and their daughter Orla. I had photographed Orla when she was three months old back in 2015 and so when Jill contacted me to say they would like another session, to update the family pictures, and also to meet baby Thomas and photograph him at a similar age I was thrilled to agree.
It was a beautiful morning in Muswell Hill when I visited for our family photographs and our session was just as wonderful as I had hoped – both children were an absolute joy to photograph and we had such a brilliant time.
Jill’s Muswell Hill home is flooded with natural light and the perfect location for family portraits and we spend half the session working indoors and then the second half out and about at beautiful Alexandra Palace Park, one of my regular stomping grounds for walks in the sunshine and family photography sessions.
It’s been hard to choose a single image for my Just One as there are so many lovely options but this one caught my eye. On our last session we took a similar picture of Orla that is now framed in pride of place in the family living room and we thought it would be nice to have something similar of Thomas. As Thomas was a little younger than Orla had been when we took her pictures both Jill and I were wondering how he would get on, if he would be strong enough to hold his head up for a picture – and he most certainly was.
As a younger sibling myself I understand the concept of ‘everything they can do I can do too’ and that was what I thought of as Thomas took to having his portrait done with gusto, lifting his head and showing us this most incredible joyful smile in this picture which will make the perfect companion to his sister’s previous portrait.
It was a brilliant baby and family photo shoot in Muswell Hill and I look forward to sharing more images in the future. In the meantime I hope you like this one as much as I do, today’s just one, this stunning portrait of baby Thomas.
