Just One – Joseph – children’s and family photographer in Oxfordshire

25Jul

Sometimes everything just comes together. When you have a small boy with more than a passing resemblance to Harry Potter waving a stick that has more than a passing resemblance to an eleven-inch hollywood wand with a pheonix feather core, then you know there is a picture to be had. Add to that a water spray beautifully backlit against a dark background in swirls of tiny droplets and you have a picture worth taking, a picture worth hanging on the wall and a picture that will be taking its place in my portfolio when it’s next updated!

Today’s ‘Just One’ preview had all those elements and I am thrilled with it!

When I arrived at Lisa’s home in Oxfordshire for our children and family photography session, it was raining. I had stayed the night before in a local B&B to be able to arrive nice and early, and I had been woken at 5am by the sounds of the end of the world – thunder, lightening and rain pouring down in sheets. It didn’t bode well.

However the morning turned out beautifully – by the time we got started, the rain had slowed to a drizzle and we were able to run around in the garden for the whole session. I’m still astonished by how quickly the weather turned and by half way through the morning, we were all baking in the sunshine and water-play seemed the obvious solution – it’s such a favourite activity of mine on a family photo shoot.

We spent ages playing in the water with sprinklers, hoses and water pistols, and I’ll share more of those in a future blog post along with bikes, balls and some seriously good hide-and-seek. It was such a wonderful shoot and I was so thrilled to catch up with Lisa and her family for our third session – it’s great to see how much the children have grown and are becoming such fun, fascinating people.

In the meantime I do hope you enjoy this picture, a favourite of mine from our children’s and family photography session in Oxfordshire.
