St John's Wood and Regents Park Family Portraits

06Feb

I spent a wonderful afternoon with Emily and her parents in St John’s Wood recently. Having first photographed Emily when she was only five days old it’s always a session that I look forward to – seeing how much she has grown and chatting about all the things she has been up to. Also, Emily is one of the most fun, chatty and joyful children I have ever met, everything is always ‘Brilliant!’

It was so exciting to hear what she has been up to at school, from drama and assemblies to a vibrant interest in maths and science with lots of extra curricular trips to the Royal Insitution which I remember doing myself as a child, particularly the Christmas lectures that my brother and I used to go to each year. It’s lovely to see such enthusiasm for learning in one so young.

Emily is also an avid reader so, while taking her portrait and walking around St John’s Wood and Regents Park, we exchanged book recommendations (as I am a huge fan of the Murders Most Unladylike series which Emily has also enjoyed). It was so exciting to hear that one of her favourite authors is Lauren St John who, years ago, I had photographed when she was about to publish her very first book. It’s so exciting to hear that she is now an incredibly successful children’s author and one of Emily’s favourites.

I love this image as I feel it has really captured Emily’s inquisitive personality as she looks questioningly to the camera, about to ask a question. The light was amazing and I love how the wind has just caught her hair giving a really lovely feeling of movement to the picture. It’s a classic portrait of this wonderful little girl one that I know will bring pleasure to the family as Emily grows up.

If you are interested in having your family photographed in St John’s Wood or the Regents Park area or elsewhere in London then do get in touch, I’d love to hear from you.
