I look forward to all my photo shoots, but I admit that I was particularly excited when Parveen booked her session to take place at Claridge's Hotel in London. It is always nice to work somewhere new and when it is such a spectacular location, then I am always really excited.
I was not disappointed. Claridge's was everything I could have hoped for - a beautiful location and really lovely people who didn't seem to mind a photo shoots going on around their ankles (obviously we kept out of the way of all the other guests).
We had an amazing time during the portrait session - we did a full search of the hotel for pirates (the lovely man in the lift assured us they were lurking, but often didn't come out until the evening) and even found a zebra to ride on, now that doesn't happen every day!
Once we had made use of every possible staircase and even checked the spa for those dastardly sea-faring tricksters, we headed out for a quick run around in the park before the rain started.
It was an amazing morning, one I will remember for a very long time to come, and I hope you enjoy looking at the pictures from our children's portrait photography session at Claridge's Hotel in London.

Even though I lived in Cambridge for many years, I am very keen on 'the other place' and am always thrilled to be asked to visit Oxfordshire for photo shoots. I am lucky enough to visit fairly frequently and it is one of my favourite spots for family and children's portrait photography.
I was absolutely thrilled when Tamsin got in touch to book a session - she had spent a long time researching photographers and it is very flattering to be selected from so many other people who offer children's portrait sessions. I work very hard to offer something a little bit different and to be as creative as possible in my work so that my clients get really beautiful, unique and inspired images to choose from.
We spent a wonderful morning together at the local woods, one of the family's favourite spots for a morning walk. It was beautiful and very varied in terrain which always makes for really interesting pictures.
We had a wonderful time taking family portraits, pictures of the children together and individual portraits as we played and had fun, and I am absolutely thrilled with the results. I hope you enjoy looking at these children and family portrait photographs from Oxfordshire. I think the last picture is my favourite - what's yours?

I truly think the best thing about my job is seeing families again and again, building up friendships with the parents and the children, and recording milestones in their lives. I love being the 'family photographer' who everyone gets to know - it is a privilege and a pleasure.
So I was thrilled when Karen called and asked if I was free for Ava's Christening - it was such a pleasure to see everyone again, and to be part of such a special day.
Unfortunately I was not allowed to photograph during the ceremony but I took lots of pictures before the christening, at the church and during the party afterwards when family and friends came together to celebrate with Ava. It was a cracking party and even had a band and dancing in the afternoon, which was great fun. The jerk chicken which I was invited to share was spectacular (those of you who follow me on Twitter will know that my love of photography is closely followed by a love of cooking).
I had a wonderful time capturing all the special moments of the day, such tenderness and love in such a wonderful family. I hope you will enjoy these photographs of Ava's Christening in London.

Today's blog post is the follow on from yesterday's Now and Then post with the beautiful Verity photographed in Greenwich in South East London.
This is the family session where I was lucky enough to visit Hatty again, and meet the older children too. We spent a wonderful morning together at Oxleas Woods in Blackheath and then home to Greenwich taking family portraits, shots of the children together and individual portraits as everyone laughed and played together.
We had such a great time and I was thrilled to be shown some bits of Oxleas Woods that I didn't know and also to see how some sections of it all join together (I've got lost doing marathon training in the woods on more occasions than I like to remember - I have no sense of direction!)
The woods are always such a lovely location for photographing children - all the fun of a playground, but so much nicer to look at and Oxleas Wood in Blackheath really did us proud.
I'm thrilled with these children and family photographs from Blackheath and Greenwich and I hope you will enjoy them.

I first met Hatty and Verity six years ago, when I visited them at home in Greenwich to take some newborn photographs of Verity.
I remember the session vividly - Verity was so chilled out, a typical fourth child she just lay there happily as the world whizzed by around her (I'm the fourth child myself, so I heartily recommend this view).
I was thrilled to be asked back this summer to photograph Verity again but also this time to include the rest of the family and her three older siblings. We had an amazing time and the blog post from the full shoot will be posted tomorrow.
In the meantime I thought it would be fun to revisit that early session and post something in the now and then - I love seeing how time flies and, to me, this really shows the value of photography. Each moment is gone in a flash and it's such a powerful thing to record it forever.
