Another summer day on the beach for the blog today - as we're in the midst of the busy autumn season, I fear that some of my summer Cornwall shoots may end up being blogged in December!
This photo shoot from the beautiful beach in Filey, North Yorkshire, is a real favourite of mine from the summer. I love a shoot that is based around an activity and so I was thrilled with the suggestion of going crabbing (although next year I shall be purchasing some better footwear after getting very soggy trainers from stepping knee-deep in a rock pool only moments into the session!).
We had a wonderful time down on the beach searching for, and finding, some monster crabs and it was a lovely way to photograph the boys really engaged and enjoying themselves. I'm thrilled with these pictures and I hope you will enjoy them too, I can't wait to go back next year!

One of the most enjoyable aspects of my job is the variety of different locations that I visit to take photographs, and so I was thrilled to arrange to be in Rock in Cornwall taking pictures over the August bank holiday weekend.
Many of my clients visit Cornwall for their summer holidays and I plan to make an annual trip to Rock, capturing pictures of the children enjoying their holidays and having a wonderful time exploring all that Rock has to offer.
I woke up on my first morning full of beans and ready to hit the beach, and my enthusiasm wasn't dampened by the torrential rain - this is an English seaside holiday spot, after all.
We headed straight out on the boat - rain never stops play! After a bit of charioting (which uses a giant half-doughnut shaped inflatable if you haven't come across one before, I hadn't!), we headed back to the house for bacon sandwiches and hot chocolate.
The rain then started to abate, so we wrapped-up warm and headed outdoors again, and had an amazing second half to the shoot, with even a short spell of sunshine!
I do hope you enjoy the pictures from my summer photo shoot in Rock in Cornwall. There will be more pictures to follow on the blog from other shoots from the wonderful four day stay.

I love a big family photo shoots and so I was thrilled to visit Lyn to take some portrait pictures of her extended family. Lyn and her husband were joined by their children, son-in-law and their two grandchildren and it made for the most wonderful day.
We had such a blast in their absolutely beautiful Hertfordshire garden - the sun shone and even the ducks came out to play. We rode on trikes, played football, read favourite stories, played board games, played hide and seek, played with the sand and even played in the car (a favourite game of the children's apparently and one they looked ever so cool doing - I really liked the sunglasses and jaffa cakes, clearly they take their road trips seriously).
It was such a wonderful day and I am absolutely thrilled with the pictures. I hope you enjoy looking at this set of extended family photographs taken on-location in Hertfordshire.

It's always lovely to receive referrals from my regular clients and I was thrilled when Natasha mentioned my name to her friend Rachel. Rachel invited me to visit her family in Oxford over the summer to take some family photographs to capture this time in their lives before their eldest daughter left for boarding school in London this autumn.
As one of four children myself, I am always thrilled to photograph big families - I love the family dynamic you get with lots of children and I found photographing Rachel's family a real pleasure and, at times, hilarious as I recognised myself in so many of the youngest daughters actions (yes, it is hard being the youngest in a family game of football!).
We had a wonderful day - a walk first where there was the most amazing bridge that has resulted in one of my favourite family shots of the year and then back to the house for some games in the garden - football, rugby, table tennis - you name it, we played it.
I am so pleased with the pictures and I hope you will enjoy looking at this selection from a family portrait session with teenagers in Oxford.

As many of you know, I am currently in the slow and rather painful process of moving house - we left Cambridge back in June and have been camping out in Blackheath since then while we find a house in Crouch End in North London.
I am beginning to find my feet north of the river and so I was thrilled to be invited by Rhahat to visit her and her family in Friern Barnet, close to where I hope to move in Crouch End. It is such a lovely area and the amazing mansion flats where Rhahat lives with her family were an absolutely spectacular location for baby, children's and family portrait photography.
We had a great morning together, running around the grounds of the flats which were full of fun things to do - trees to climb, open space to run around and a brick folly that was a perfect space for some family portraits and shots of the children together.
Then, when everyone was getting tired, we headed indoors for the children to have lunch and for me to pack away my kit. While lunch was being made, I spotted the balcony above the living room and headed up there to take some more unusual arial shots of the children. I absolutely love the angles on these last three pictures - some of my favourites of the year so far - and I hope you will enjoy look at them and at all the other lovely shots from this fantastic family, children and baby photography session in Friern Barnet in North London.
