It’s lovely to be sharing a selection of photographs with you today from Jane and Ben’s family photography session in Amersham in Buckinghamshire. I was lucky enough to meet Jane and Ben a few years ago now, when I visited to photograph their eldest boy Toby when he was about two years old. I was thrilled to visit again as I had such wonderful memories of our baby and family photography session – in fact, one of the picures from their previous shoot was a real favourite and even starred as the cover of my 2011 newsletter!
It was a grey morning when I arrived (as has been so often the case recently) but never daunted, we planned to head outdoors to the local woodland, which was a really beautiful spot and I always find that woods are lovely on grey days – the soft light lends a really magical feel to the pictures.
We had a lovely time exploring and playing ‘What’s the time, Mr Gruffalo?’ (it’s hard to imagine a time before the Gruffalo, isn’t it?), balancing on logs and generally having fun. It was a wonderful morning.
As the morning progressed and baby Orla fell asleep in Jane’s arms, we thought it was time to head back to the house and boost everyone’s blood sugar with biscuits (and coffee for the adults) and take some more pictures in and around Jane and Ben’s beautiful Amersham home.
We played indoors in Toby’s bedroom, which was bathed in beautiful light and a great spot for playing with toys and having some tickle-time with Jane. There is nothing I like photographing more than parents and children in fits of giggles, laughing and rolling around together – they are such prechious moments and I know the pictures will be treasured for ever.
We then took some pictures of the children together when Orla woke up from her nap, before heading out into the garden where I took the shot of Toby that fetured in the recent ‘Just One’ blog post for this family photography session. The children had a great time on the swing, running around and helping with ‘the gardening’.
A great time was had by all and I am absolutely over the moon with the pictures. I do hope you will enjoy looking at this selection of pictures from our baby, children’s and family portrait photography session in Amersham in beautiful Buckinghamshire.
