Just One – Max – newborn baby photography in Hampstead

21Feb

I do love a shot of a snuggly, cute sleeping newborn baby and so I am thrilled with this shot of Max from our portrait session in Hampstead in North London this week.

There is something so incredibly peaceful about Max's expression here – he's so comfy and snuggled up, warm and happy, just the perfect advert for being a newborn – snooze, feed, cuddle, snooze again, just lovely!

I love the depth in this picture which we get from Barbara's lovely animal print throw – while I always avoid graphic patterns in our baby photography sessions as they tend to really dominate a photograph, this texture and pattern worked beautifully with just enough pattern to create interest but the varied nature of it meant that it doesn't distract, rather it adds to the image. As we were photographing indoors and the direction of the light meant a rather busy background, I asked Barbara to lift the throw slightly at the back to provide the beautiful mottled surround, thrown out of focus by the use of a very shallow depth of field that works so well for newborn photography to give this lovely delicate feel to the picture.

I am thrilled with this image, today's 'Just One' preview image from our session in Hampstead, North London and hope that you enjoy it too.
