Christening and baptism photography
Henry’s christening was one of the most memorable days of my photography career so far. It was my first Greek Orthodox christening, which was an incredible experience and a real privilege to be a part of. We had a lovely day, starting at home for some family photographs before the main event – this is something I find works particularly well for christenings as after the ceremony, young children are often very tired. We had a great time at home, with Henry so full of smiles. Then the ceremony itself, which I was lucky enough to be able to photograph all the way through - it was a fascinating event with lots of details that I photographed to record the whole story of the day. The christening took place in a beautiful building, too – the Greek Church in central Cambridge – definitely a venue I hope to return to one day.
We then visited Magdalene College for the reception. As a Cambridge graduate, I have a real soft spot for the beautiful architecture and hallowed halls of Cambridge, and when we are there as guests and able to walk on the grass (usually strictly forbidden for undergraduates), it’s an added treat.
We had a lovely time at the reception - Henry’s cake was spectacular and all the guest has a wonderful time drinking tea and champagne, and enjoying the beautiful weather while listening to a fabulous string quartet.
It was a truly lovely day and I hope this feature gallery of images will give you a good insight into my approach to christening and baptism photography. If you'd be interested in me photographing your child's christening, please contact us - we would be delighted to hear from you.
